High Hat Permutations – DNB Exercises

These are simply 16th note permutations I wrote out with a straight up drum n bass pattern a loong time ago. Good hand and coordination builders. Getting some of these at 172bpm dnb tempo is another story though. I don’t think I ever did.

In the second section, use one hand to play 8th notes on the ride cymbal bringing the same hand down to play the back beat on 2 and 4. Use your free hand to play through the same permutations. While all these are mostly just exercises and hand builders to assist pushing your limits, I’ve found this method and some of these exact patterns very practical. They’re good for improving left hand strength and independence.
